Happy July 4th...a day late!!! Yesterday was a day filled with friends, swimming, picnics, etc. Ours started out with a parade that featured LOTS of cars, a couple high school bands, and some childrens groups riding floats but what struck me the most was that every 20th entry or so was an American flag being carried by Disabled Vets, American Legion, and various military groups. A lady seated behind us on the curb made her group stand and clap every time the Flag was carried by and proceeded to let everyone know that we live in a free country and that we should be proud.
Exactly 2 months ago yesterday, I had the unfortunate experience of witnessing my husband's heart being broken and having to break the hearts of Nicholas and Isabella when Poppy Cecil passed away. He was a Vet and proud of it. Three years ago, for his 80th birthday, Jeff and his 2 sisters (and spouses) replaced all of Grandpa's medals from his military days that were lost in a fire decades ago. They are proudly displayed on "Grandpa's Wall."
This picture was drawn by Nicholas the day after the funeral and is now on display in our home, Jeff's parents' home, and Grandma's home. We thank you Grandpa for your service and for all the others out there that don't get the Thank you that is well deserved!!! Be Proud!!!!
